We invite journalists to send in their investigative articles and reports concerning rural India, in English or any regional language (with or without translations into English), and published during 2011 in any newspaper or periodical in the country.

THE STATESMAN AWARDS FOR RURAL REPORTING
 
In 1979, The Statesman instituted three prizes for excellence in rural reporting to encourage a better awareness of the social, political and economic challenges taking place in our villages. The three prizes are now of Rs 15,000, Rs 10,000 and Rs 7,500.
We invite journalists to send in their investigative articles and reports concerning rural India, in English or any regional language (with or without translations into English), and published during 2011 in any newspaper or periodical in the country. Entries will be evaluated on the criteria of social relevance, factual accuracy, professional dedication and stylistic merit.
The competition is open to Indian journalists. All entries should be marked "Rural Reporting" and sent in the form of original clippings (photocopies will not be accepted) clearly showing the date and name of the publication to the address given below.
 
THE CUSHROW IRANI PRIZE FOR ENVIRONMENTAL REPORTING
 
The C R Irani Foundation, a not-for-profit body involved in improvement of journalistic standards, in 2011 set up an annual prize of Rs 25,000 for environmental reporting.
We invite journalists to send in their investigative articles and reports concerning the environment in English or any regional language (with or without translations in English), and published during 2011 in any newspaper or periodical in the country. Entries will be evaluated on the basis of content, accuracy, professional standards and quality of research. The competition is open to Indian journalists. All entries should be marked "Environmental Reporting" and sent in the form of original clippings photocopies will not be accepted) clearly showing the date and name of the publication to the address given below.
