| Protest against award | | Siddharth Varadarajan of the Hindu has written to the jury which gave the Indian News Broadcasting Award for News Reporter of the Year 2010, Hindi, to Neeta Sharma of NDTV India, protesting at the choice. He says this was the reporter who had written a false story in the Hindustan Times calling Iftikhar Gilani an ISI agent some years ago. The story contributed to the journalist's incarceration and caused Gilani no end of trouble, but the reporter and the paper never published an apology for it.
| Reason for attacks? | | The blog Churimuri has a long post which seeks to link the Times of India's daily attacks on the Commonwealth Games with the fact that the paper proposed a deal to the CWG authorities which the latter did not bite. The paper's executives apparently wrote to Suresh Kalmadi in November last year presenting a comprehensive print proposal (for Times of India, Navbharat Times, Maharashtra Times, Mirror and Sandhya Times) for Rs 12 cror .. more>>
