Why the media needs a watchdog
If you believe that free and ethical news media form the cornerstone of democracy, please support The Hoot. We believe that the task of monitoring the media in a democratic polity is as important as the work of the news media themselves. We cannot let the watchdogs become either sleeping dogs or lapdogs. To sustain this site we require the support of organizations and individuals. Please write for us, and send us information, alerts and tip offs. Write to editor@thehoot.org

The Hoot runs on individual donations and grants. To reduce our dependence on foreign grants which are subject to changes in government policy we would like to build a corpus to finance the media watch work of the Hoot.
