NDTV sues Nielsen for USD 1.3 bn

New Delhi Television Limited has filed a 194-page lawsuit in a New York court. NDTV is accusing Nielsen of violating the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act by manipulating viewership data in favour of  channels that are willing to provide bribes to its officials.The suit was filed on July 26, 2012. NDTV is demanding a minimum of USD 1.3 billion – USD 810 million for fraud and USD 580 million for negligence. The channel's statement says that “corrupt” data continues to be published, despite direct and specific knowledge by each of the organisations of the corruption of data and direct and specific knowledge of the losses caused to NDTV.
