What men women and children watch in rural and urban India

What television programmes and channels are the poor watching in rural and urban India? Men and women? Children?

Regional channels dominate, but Hindi GECs are also prevalent in all states except Andhra Pradesh.Language feeds of channels such as Discovery, Animal Planet and National Geographic are to be found in every state we studied.

Regional language news channels and the public broadcaster’s regional news telecasts were watched everywhere. Cable channels figured in list in Andhra Pradesh and Gujarat.

We are putting out raw data for researchers and media planners. The sampling is from focus group discussions and household surveys in Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh, and Gujarat. Additionally interviews were done in a few locations in UP and Bihar.
