Soliciting ads from docs

IN Media Watch Briefs | 12/06/2016

The Punjab Medical Council has sent a complaint to the Press Council  of India dated June 10 protesting against the soliciting of ads from doctors by a marketing person of the Times Group. The complaint quotes an sms received  from a  rep. of the group which says  the paper is coming out with a medical supplement on June 19, and  adds, "if you want to be featured in it with an article and photo  and contact details for as low as  Rs 1.25 lakh please feel free to call me." The PMC complaint says this supplement  is contrary to the Code of Medical Ethics that doctors have to adhere to,  and action will be taken against any doctor registered with them who advertises in this TOI supplement.
