The Lok Sabha was
informed, in a written reply by Minister of State for Home Affairs Hansraj Gangaram Ahir, that the government has no specific data on the number of journalists killed in India because the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) does not collate such data. In February, the same minister
told the Rajya Sabha there were 90 attacks on journalists between 2015-17. The NCRB began collecting
data on attacks on journalists in 2014, 'changed the template' the next year, and simply didn't disclose the figures for the following years!
