Advertisement regulation

Government is considering setting up an inter-ministerial committee to check ‘false and misleading advertisements’ which especially target vulnerable sections of society- children, women and senior citizens. At a conference organized by Advertising Standards Council of India, Prof. K.V Thomas, Union Minister of State for Food, Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution said that there was an urgent need to prevent such advertisements before they appear, by strengthening existing laws and self regulatory mechanism.
