The  Deccan Chronicle and Asian Age have reported that Parashuram Waghmare, the last of the six suspects arrested in connection with the killing of journalist-activist Gauri Lankesh, was her assassin. The confirmation is attributed to a senior official in the Special Investigation Team. He also said the same weapon was used to shoot Gauri Lankesh, as rationalists Govind Pansare and M M Kalburgi. The weapon has not been traced. The SIT suspects that three more people were present when Gauri Lankesh was shot dead at the entrance of her Bengaluru residence on September 5, 2017.
