An undertrial accused in the murder of journalist Sudip Datta Bhowmik in Tripura last year has apparently threatened a witness on whose statement the case hinges. This is the TSR jawan who witnessed the entire incident. The custodial trial in the case began last week. Bhowmick was shot dead last year in the TSR 2nd battalion HQ and four TSR personnel including the battalion commandant are implicated in the case. (UNI)                      

The  Deccan Chronicle and Asian Age have reported that Parashuram Waghmare, the last of the six suspects arrested in connection with the killing of journalist-activist Gauri Lankesh, was her assassin. The confirmation is attributed to a senior official in the Special Investigation Team. He also said the same weapon was used to shoot Gauri Lankesh, as rationalists Govind Pansare and M M Kalburgi. The weapon has not been traced.The SIT suspects that three more people were present when Gauri Lankesh was shot dead at the entrance of her Bengaluru residence on September 5, 2017.
